Full time Firefighter / EMT

The Bar Harbor Fire Department is accepting applications for a fulltime Firefighter/EMT.  The firefighter/EMT is a dual-role member of the department having firefighter duties in addition to emergency medical care responsibilities.  Depending on the nature of the emergency, personnel will be responsible for fire suppression, hazard control activities, provide emergency medical treatment, perform extrication, and rescue.  This position is technical in nature, and requires the ability to interact with patients, independently assess and treat medical emergencies.  The position is shift work with a schedule of 24 hours on duty with 48 hours off duty.  Minimum qualifications include High School Diploma or GED, Firefighter I & II competencies as required by NFPA 1001, EVOC, Maine Licensed current EMT, EMT-A or EMT-P, AHA CPR. ALS providers must have ACLS, PALS and PIFT. Candidates not already EMS licensed must obtain Maine EMS licensure within 6 months of hire. Must hold a valid driver’s license and live or be willing to locate within 39 road miles of the Bar Harbor Fire Station. Candidates will complete a written exam and physical agility test. Prior to employment must have and pass a pre-employment physical.   Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume, to Matt Bartlett, Fire Chief, 37 Firefly Lane, Bar Harbor, ME  04609.  The position will remain open until filled.

The Bar Harbor Fire Department is accepting applications for a full-time firefighter / EMT.   Bar Harbor Fire Dept. will select candidates for further consideration that meet its specific requirements, and who best meet the objectives and needs of the fire department.

Requirements:

  • Maine Licensed EMT, EMT-A, or EMT-P / EMT-P preferred
  • AHA CPR
  • ALS Providers must have ACLS, PALS, and PIFT
  • Maine Certified or Pro Board Firefighter 1 & II (NFPA 1001 qualifications)
  • EVOC
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Maine Driver’s License
  • Must live within 39 road miles of Central fire station
  • Pass written exam
  • Pass physical agility test
