The Town of Bar Harbor has selected Resilience Planning & Design to assist the community in developing a new Comprehensive Plan with a 2035 outlook. Resilience has teamed with FB Environmental and RKG Associates.
Resilience, from Plymouth, NH, will serve as the project manager. Their primary work focus will be community outreach and engagement, mapping, land use, transportation, sustainability and resilience, and equity. FB Environmental, from Portland, will focus on natural resources, conservation, and climate change and adaptation, while RKG Associates, from Boston, will work on demographics, housing, economic development, and public facilities and services.
This trio has a proven track record and is committed to providing an engagement process that is empowering and maintained throughout the process. This will result in a plan that truly belongs to the community, as it implements its values. We are confident this is going to be a great match for the Town of Bar Harbor.
In other Comprehensive Plan news, the town received more than 30 applications from interested residents wanting to serve on the Comprehensive Planning Committee. Over the next few weeks, applicants will meet with the Town’s Appointments Committee (consisting of three Town Councilors) to fill the 15 available slots.
Appointment to the Comprehensive Planning Committee, by the Town Council, is expected at the December 7 meeting. The first Comprehensive Planning Committee meeting, for organizational purposes, should take place sometime later in December after the appointments have been made. The work of the Committee is currently planned to begin in January of 2022 and continue through early 2023.
