Food Safety
The Maine Department of Health & Human Services has adopted a State Food Code which was last amended in 2013. The Food Code addresses controls for risk factors and establishes key public health interventions to protect consumer health. The Code establishes definitions; sets standards for management and personnel, food operations, and equipment and facilities; and provides for food or eating establishment plan review, permit issuance, inspection, employee restriction, and permit suspension. All entities providing food to the public are required to meet these standards. Learn more about Food Safety below.
